Fenestra's Bottling Line: Filler and Corker
Here is a close-up of the filler and the corker. The filler is on the left with the big cylindrical tank above the filler. The filler rotates and fills each bottles as it rotates. This filler has the capacity to fill eight bottles at a time.
To the right is the corker and magic leveler. The magic leveler is the tall cylinder that extracts the right amount of win such that each bottle has the proper volume. For a standard bottle, this is 750ml. It is easier to have the filler overfill by a touch and extract out the extra than to constnatly keep the eight filling stations calibrated.
The corker corks each bottle by first removing the air in the headspace (the gap of air in the neck of the bottle) and then pushing a cork down the bottle neck.
